PSC was co-founded in January 2012 by childhood friends Gloria Hsu and Lana Rempel, who grew up together in Taiwan as missionary kids and classmates. During a visit to a home in another city that cared for single mothers and babies being placed for adoption, God placed a vision in both Gloria and Lana’s hearts to start a similar ministry in Taichung.
They felt called to walk alongside the marginalized and vulnerable, offering a safe and compassionate space where single pregnant women could consider alternatives to the pressure of abortion and be empowered to make informed decisions. They also envisioned providing a safe home for pregnant women in need, supporting them throughout their pregnancies, and helping care for their babies.
If a mother chose adoption, PSC aimed to partner with reputable on-island organizations to ensure loving placements. In May 2013, PSC was officially approved as a registered nonprofit organization in Taichung.
